The Grove
The beer garden to end all beer gardens. When the sun comes out, half of Surbiton migrates here — and for good reason.
Why we love it
Surbiton's summer anchor — the biggest and best beer garden in the area, perfect for long sunny afternoons.
The Grove is Surbiton's answer to "where shall we go when it's sunny?" — and the answer is always here. The beer garden is genuinely massive, the kind that can absorb several birthday parties, after-work crowds, and dog walkers without anyone feeling cramped. Inside is perfectly serviceable but honestly beside the point. You come to The Grove for that sprawling outdoor space, strung with lights, dotted with wooden tables, and somehow always managing to catch the last rays of evening sun. When summer hits, this becomes the de facto town square. The food is pub-proper: burgers, sharing boards, BBQ when the weather warrants it. Nothing groundbreaking, but that's not why you're here. You're here because your friend texted "Grove?" and you knew exactly what that meant. **Local's Tip:** Arrive earlier than you think you need to on sunny weekends — the garden fills up fast. The far end near the fence is the sweet spot for groups.
