Yami
High street Korean BBQ where the food tastes exactly like Seoul — at New Malden prices.
Why we love it
Reviewers say 'if you want the true taste of Korean food, this is the place' — and the bossam proves it.
Out of all the Korean restaurants in New Malden — and there are plenty — Yami is the one reviewers say tastes exactly like Seoul. It's a three-minute walk from the station, casual enough to relax in, and the prices are genuinely friendly: £30 for two people, stuffed. The bossam (steamed pork belly) is some of the best in the country — tender, rich, wrapped in lettuce with the proper banchan spread. The galbi is marinated until it's falling-apart tender, and the kimchi jjigae delivers proper depth and heat. The staff are helpful and informative if you're navigating the menu for the first time. **Local's Tip:** Come hungry. The portions are generous and the banchan keeps coming.
